Positive Affirmations for Students

We do positive affirmations for students just like these year round at our house. Through media, teachers, friends, us as parents, and even themselves, kids hear countless messages every day about their value and their worthiness. I want to be sure they’re so used to the truth about who they are and the value they hold, that red flags not only pop up, but also catch on fire at any hint of false messaging from outside sources.

Positive Affirmations for Parents

Positive affirmations for school would not be complete without a list of positive affirmations for parents!

We parents have so much tied up in the success and happiness of our children. It is a heavy burden to be responsible for these things, especially when so often we doubt our own success in these areas. I don’t believe God intends us to carry this burden on our own. God cares for our children and is equipping them each day to carry out his plan and purpose for their life.

As we trade in all our efforts to create the best summer ever for hopes for the most prepared student ever, let’s not take on undue  worry.

how to use positive affirmations for school

In the past, when my kids were at the same school and I drove them each morning, we used the car ride for a lot of things! We chatted, I encouraged and affirmed. As we got close to school, I’d simply say, “Ok, let’s do our affirmations to make sure we’re ready for the day”. I’d call each one out from memory individually, and they’d repeat. Sometimes it got silly. Somethings they sounded like I was torturing them. But we kept it up and I’m glad we did. Since these have been on repeat, I can slip them into conversations one on one or around others. A simple, “I know you exercise self control” or “Remember, that everyone deserves  kindness” helps refocus many situations.

This is a big reason why I love the Lunch Box cards included in this post. It gives us a chance to affirm what we see in our kids, which is just as important to their spirit as saying it themselves! In some season, what we affirm in them may be the most important message they hear. The cards make it easy to reinforce your message, even on busiest days!

This year, I’m working to have both kids establish their own quiet time each morning and will provide a printed copy for them to use in this self-led time.

What If My Kids (or I) Struggle with Positive Affirmations?

Affirmations can feel strange at first and may cause a lot of second-guessing. This is why I like to use scripture to support these mantras. It is easy to doubt yourself and come up with a bazillion different arguments for why a particular affirmation isn’t true. But when using God’s words and hopes for his own creation, those arguments lose power. When an affirmation hits a particularly sensitive spot, something I desperately want to be true for me or my kids but clearly isn’t true (yet!), I then have an item to pray over and work on hand in hand with my Heavenly Father.

Other Emotional Support for Children

From using affirmations with my kids to casually talking about everyday spirituality and welcoming questions about God, to daily meditation practice and encouraging healthy food choices, down to regular chiropractic visits, I do my absolute best to provide wholeness for my family, and especially my kids. But of course, I know I cannot get it all right all the time. I simply cannot be enough for my kids. I’m bringing a lifetime of good and bad to the table. And they need to independently learn through their own experiences, though often the process can be painful for us both!

Healing through flower essences has become a vital part of the holistic support I aim to provide my family. it is why I became a Flower Essence Practitioner and now offer blended remedies for common emotional issues as well as custom blends for individual needs. Flower essences allow us to learn from and about emotional pain we hold inside, but also provide effortless healing. Flower essences clear out old emotional hurts. They have allowed me to be more present with my kids and not have my own childhood pains clouding the situation. Have you heard of this powerful emotional healing method? Building a positive foundation for the school year takes a lot of intentional effort and spiritual discipline. I hope this school year has you feeling supported to uncover what works for you! Two key factors for us have been daily positive affirmation practice and flower essence healing.
