For one, we can cultivate gratitude by simply paying attention! Evidence of God’s worthiness surrounds us. When we take time to notice and be present, God’s gifts have the power to recenter us and ground us in gratitude. Gratitude affirmations are one way to build this presence into our day, in a simple and practical way.

My favorite time to use affirmations is at the beginning of the day before any other messages work their way in! Utilizing affirmations to start the day lays a solid foundation and reminder to trust in God alone.

  1. Today, I am brimming with energy and overflowing with joy (see Isaiah 40:28-31, Romans 15:13).
  2. No matter what I face today, I know who I am and WHOSE I am (see Romans 8:31).
  3. God’s love and mercy are renewed for me every morning (see Lamentations 3:22-24).
  4. Above everything else today, I seek to please God and live in God’s holy presence at all times (see Psalm 27:4-5).

I started doing that a few years ago, and sometimes now I might appear to be going overboard, but I am now thanking God for everything little thing.
